Does hanging around in a garage makes me a motor car?

Believe it or not, God has a purpose and plan for the life of every human being, including you, and it ain’t boring! So it is strange that people don’t take time to discover what God has in store for them.   Actually you will find all the answers in your cadet New Testament – if you need one let me know.

Many people have different views about what a Christian is, however the bible is quite clear on this point. People think that because we live in a so-called “Christian country” that this by default makes us Christians. Wrong! Nor does, going to church, or serving those less fortunate than you, or being a good person make you a Christian.  Actually, going to church does not make you a Christian anymore than going to a garage makes you a motor car.

The word Christian means CHRIST-IN. A Christian is somebody who has asked Jesus Christ, God’s son into their lives and that is where the story really starts.

You see, you and I were originally intended to have a relationship with God. If we look back in the bible we find that God had a relationship with us in the Garden of Eden (Gen 1:27-31), but wrong doing (sin) came into the world when man disobeyed God (Gen 2:8-25).

God still wants to have a relationship with me and you but he can’t stand the wrong doing.  Many people would think of sin as murder etc. The bible teaches that we sin in thought and word and deed. So it is not what we do but also how we think. Oh no! (Rom 3:23).

However God, who is always kind, provided a way so that our sins (the things we do wrong) can be forgiven by coming into our world in the form of Jesus and showing what he was like and how to live our lives in a way which was pleasing to God.  When Jesus was crucified on the cross he provided the only way to allow our sins to be forgiven and restore our relationship with God. This is good news!! (John 3:16)

Once we say we are sorry to God he will take away our sin and make us a brand new person (2 Cor 5v17), a Christian.  Remember, the word Christian means “Christ-in”, someone who invites Jesus into their lives. This means that a new phase of our life begins, his plan and purpose for our life kicks in. (John 27-29).   So what will you do with this information?

Can I be a Bentley Continental please!

Our God our Father
Who hast brought us together as members of the Army Cadet Force
Help us to do our duty at all times and to be loyal to each other.
May all that is good and true prosper among us
strengthen us to defend the right
and bless our work that it may be acceptable to thee
for Jesus Christ's sake.
Amen.

The Cadet150 Prayer

Almighty God
Who through the years has inspired in your people all that is true, courageous and loyal
We thank you for the one hundred and fifty years of the Cadet Forces.
Bless, we pray, those who serve in our own day.
Teach us to serve you as our Master, learning to accept the responsibilities of leadership and service,
and may all that is good and true continue to prosper among us,
Through Jesus Christ our Lord;
Amen.
